What’s your role at BrightInsight?

I am the Director of Global Support and Services, and I manage maintenance and support at BrightInsight.

Can you share a bit of background on yourself?

I was born in a small Indian town of 5,000 people but grew up primarily in Bombay (yes, I still love to call it Bombay). I came to the U.S. for my Masters and then moved to Silicon Valley.

I completed my Masters at the University of Kentucky (that was a fun time!) and then started working in the Bay Area as a Software Developer in Telecommunications. This was waaaaay back when people used to pay for phone calls, voice messages and video calls were not known. I feel old!

I was sent as an engineering resource to a couple of high-profile customers and I quickly realized that I love to interact with customers, resolve issues, achieve world peace (just kidding, wanted to see if you are paying attention) and strive for the highest customer satisfaction.

I moved to a high-pressure Customer Support job where escalations from customers were an everyday thing and loved every minute of it. I remember one of my managers telling me “You thrive under pressure”. This was at a startup called iPVerse, which became Veraz Networks and then Dialogic and learned so many things there. As a next step, I became the first support guy at another startup, Cataleya, where I was approached by the CTO of Veraz to start the support group. Cataleya was one of my most rewarding experiences, where I was able to work with the crème de la crème and leaving that company was tough.

But, the silver lining was that I then I joined another awesome company, BrightInsight. I have been fortunate here in that I’ve had the opportunity to stand up a new team and grow our post production support team. Customer success is my passion and I am bringing that focus every day to BrightInsight.

Which of BrightInsight’s Values most resonates with you and why?

Each and every BrightInsight value resonates with me and it is very difficult to choose only one of them. It’s like asking me to pick my favorite ice cream - Chocolate Fudge Brownie or Strawberry Shortcake – I love both and would chose both at any time!

Since I *must* choose one, I will go with Accountability.

Accountability is something that I have grown up with since I was a kid as I quickly understood that people respect and want to associate with an accountable person, and only you are responsible for the actions or decisions you have taken. Customer Service is my passion and accountability plays a very big role in keeping a customer satisfied and in building a long term, trusting relationship where customers become our partners. Accountability is something that I want my kids to own and to learn early in life - although difficult to get through to a teenager 😊. I love that it is one of the core values at BrightInsight.

What is your favorite part about working at BrightInsight?

Real-world healthcare impact, value and respect for opinions, inclusive culture, agility, the talent pool. BrightInsight was just growing when I had joined and according to my exclusive employee number mug, I am #37 and the company has now grown to almost 85!! Insane and rewarding.

I have enjoyed working here every moment since I have joined and love to contribute to the awesome culture that BrightInsight has and what we bring to the healthcare industry. Customer Support is my passion, (did I mention that few times before?), and BrightInsight believes in taking a customer-first approach from the beginning of an engagement to the post-production phase and the whole culture within BrightInsight is to make our customers successful. Love that!

The amount of freedom of expression and independence that I get at BrightInsight is unheard of, and the culture inspires you to do your best and deliver even better every day. We have a great leadership team that has 100+ years of combined health care industry experience and each and every leader is continuously still improving, and at the same time listening to each and every employee’s feedback, I know, hard to believe but it’s true. You have an idea and let them know and they will listen.

Also, BrightInsight is not afraid of trying and they completely understand that trying can lead either to failure or success and they are ready to embrace both.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Love to run (have finished four half marathons and planning on doing at least one half marathon every year), bike with my son (he wants to race me all the time and pushes me to the limit – he is only 11 and I don’t know how challenging these bike rides will be once he grows up 😊), math sessions with my daughter (this is my meditation, patience test and stress test) walk with my wife (literally and philosophically, both), DJ (I play in private functions and small events - heavily influenced by Indian music), watching movies (love thrillers and mysteries but forced to watch romcoms too 😊. Couple of recommendations if you have not watched would be Longmire and Bosch), traveling (have been fortunate to travel to many countries around the world like Egypt, Nigeria, Chile to name a few. Had planned to visit Japan, this spring break, but had to cancel plans due to Coronavirus). Lately I developed a new hobby of eagle watching as couple of bald-headed eagles have been showing up during summer in our backyard and yes, some avid photographers have been lining up outside our house to take pictures).
