Derek has over seventeen years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Derek joined the BrightInsight team after three years in business development with Flex Health Solutions focused on design and manufacturing of connected medical devices. Before joining Flex, he spent three years on the commercial development team for Unilife, a drug delivery device startup.
Earlier in his career, Derek worked for the Becton Dickinson Medical Pharmaceutical Systems division, starting as a customer-facing engineer, then spending eight years in an account management and business development role.
In that time, he won Account Executive of the year managing BD’s two major self-injection customers and oversaw North America’s first ever generic injectable product launch in a prefilled syringe — their largest source of revenue growth that year.
Derek holds a Master’s in Engineering Management with a focus in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing from Stevens Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University.
